Grab Your Opportunity to Study Abroad in New Zealand!
Starting this summer, you can begin applying for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program to fund your study abroad program in spring or early summer 2018. Education New Zealand (ENZ) and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in the U.S. Department of State have each committed $50,000 over the next two years to support the scholarship program, allowing at least 10 additional Gilman Scholars to study abroad at New Zealand universities over the next two years.
This exciting news comes from a recent press release, which discusses how the Gilman Scholarship allows students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, granting this opportunity to over 24,000 economically disadvantaged U.S. students since 2001.
Gilman scholars gain proficiency in diverse languages and cultures and gain critical skills for their academic and career development by studying abroad in New Zealand. Additionally, students can explore the active volcanoes, geysers, black sand beaches, and glaciers only found in this country. New Zealand offers a high-quality of life, a rich culture, and amazing outdoor opportunities.
Interested in applying? If so, you must be an undergraduate Pell Grant student in good standing at an accredited college or university. Those wishing to study abroad beginning between Dec. 15, 2017, and April 15, 2018, must submit their online application by Oct. 3, 2017. Determine your eligibility, get application tips, and complete the application via GilmanScholarship.org.
